Baraboo, Wis. – Customers at Slumberland Furniture in Baraboo are getting a better sense of what they’re buying thanks to the store’s investment in major lighting upgrades.

FOCUS ON ENERGY® Trade Ally contractor, Hills Wiring Inc., installed more than 300 LED lights in the retail furniture store’s main showroom, mezzanine area and warehouse on West Pine Street in Baraboo, replacing lighting from the late 1980’s.

“This made a significant improvement on the appearance of the furniture on the showroom floor. This was one of the reasons we decided to do this project. It was frustrating to hear the color variance from our showroom versus the customer’s home. This issue was eliminated with the new improved lighting,” said Store Manager Dave Tourdot.

Slumberland Baraboo received $5,124 in financial incentives from Focus on Energy to help offset the investment in energy-efficient lighting. In addition, the store will lower its annual energy use by 70,628 kilowatt hours (kWh) of electricity, which equals about $10,000 a year in avoided energy costs.

The lights, over their lifetime, will help save the store more than 861,000 kWh of electricity, which equates to the carbon dioxide emission of 665,000 pounds of burned coal.
