Milwaukee – The lighting in the parking garage at Highland Court Apartments was inadequate. The complex’s long-time manager knew it could be better and, more importantly, safer. So she called her electrician.

“Lemberg Electric does all of our electric work,” the manager says, “and they suggested Focus on Energy.”

Lemberg Electric is a Focus on Energy Trade Ally contractor and pointed out multiple lighting upgrades that were eligible for monetary incentives through Focus on Energy’s Multifamily Energy Savings Program. Many of the building’s fixtures were outdated and consuming far more energy than they should. In the end, the projects included the parking garage, lower hall lights, and various exterior lights.

Highland Count Apartments management says the area where the conversion to LED lights made the biggest difference was the parking garage. They are happy with the new, brighter lighting and say they have received positive feedback from residents.

Total Focus on Energy incentives for the projects totaled $812.80. The new lighting is expected to save more than 188,778 kWh over its lifecycle, enough to power 15 average homes for a year.

Highland Court Apartments is a customer of We Energies, one of the 107 Wisconsin utilities that fund the Focus on Energy program.

A recent evaluation report found every $1 invested in Focus on Energy programs creates $5.93 in benefits for Wisconsin, including economic benefits, reduced energy costs, and reduced pollution.
