Milwaukee –A Wisconsin non-profit is making a big difference for its bottom line and workers with energy-efficient lighting upgrades made through the Focus on Energy program.
Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin, a group dedicated to eradicating hunger in Wisconsin, installed new lighting that made a drastic difference at its facility in Milwaukee. The non-profit’s executives say their workers have been pleased with the changes, especially in the warehouse, which they now find a more pleasant place to work.
Focus on Energy awarded the non-profit with incentives totaling more than $8,600 for multiple upgrades that promote energy efficiency, including new interior and exterior LED lights and fixtures, as well as new lighting controls.
“When over 400,000 Wisconsinites are relying on our food bank to make sure they don’t have to miss a meal, efficiency is so important,” stated Patti Habeck, President, Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin. “The team here at Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin prides itself on our attention to detail and that’s just as true when it comes to energy as it does with food. For that reason, this recognition from the Focus on Energy program means so much.”
Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin worked with its utility, We Energies, and Focus on Energy Trade Ally contractor New Lighting Solutions completed the upgrades.
The energy efficiency steps are estimated to generate lifecycle energy savings of more than 2.8 million kilowatt hours, which equals the annual energy consumption of 228 homes. The upgrades will also help Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin save thousands of dollars in electricity costs each year.
