St. John’s Catholic Church recently received technical assistance and $2,500 in funding from Waunakee Utilities for energy-efficiency improvements that will help the church use electricity wisely, improve its system performance, and provide a more comfortable environment for years to come.

St. John’s participated in Focus on Energy’s Retrocommissioning Program, which specializes in re-tuning recently constructed buildings in order to maximize energy efficiency. Through Waunakee Utilities’ enrollment in the statewide Focus on Energy program, all Waunakee Utilities customers, both residential and business, can take advantage of the program offerings.

As a result of the measures St. John’s implemented, their total energy consumption has been reduced by 38 percent and they will save $10,000 per year on electric costs.

“We’re here to help our customers find ways to save energy and reduce their expenses,” said Joseph Owen, Energy Services Representative at Waunakee Utilities. “Helping our local churches control costs is one more way that we, as a locally owned utility, can serve our community.”
