The Mosinee School District is being recognized for completing projects at the high school that will reduce energy use and deliver long-term environmental benefits.
These energy-saving upgrades were part of a strategic plan funded by the district’s 2024 voter-approved referendum. Facility needs included:
These improvements cut greenhouse gas emissions by about 216 tons each year. That reduction is similar to taking 46 cars off the road each year or planting 3,269 trees. The energy saved is enough to power 26 Wisconsin homes for one year.
Recently retired Building and Grounds Director Steve Kaiser played a key role in coordinating the work with FOCUS ON ENERGY®.
"Steve devoted an incredible amount of time and talent," said Superintendent Greg Doverspike. "His efforts started long before the referendum information was shared and continued until the upgrades were finished. He was deeply committed to ensuring these improvements would provide value to our students and staff."
Focus on Energy Advisor Sylvia Lopez also praised Newton Electric Corporation, a Focus on Energy Trade Ally, for their contributions.
"Zach Newton and the Newton Electric team were instrumental to the success of this work," Lopez said. "Their teamwork and problem‑solving helped make these upgrades possible."
By investing in efficiency at its high school, Mosinee is building a district focused on the future. This achievement shows how schools can work with local contractors and Focus on Energy to make improvements that support the community for years to come.
