Focus on Energy, Wisconsin's statewide program for energy efficiency and renewable energy, and We Energies, presented the City of Burlington with an incentive check for $26,486, after the city installed digital HVAC controls and a new well pump.

The City of Burlington installed digital HVAC controls in the city hall, fire station, police station, library and Public Works building. The automated controls will allow the City to finely tune the heating and cooling of their buildings in order to provide energy savings and improve occupant comfort. In addition to adding a variable speed drive, The City also replaced a worn out well pump with a new, more efficient version. As a result, the well is now running 50 percent more efficient.

By completing this project, the City of Burlington will expect to save more than 505,949 kilowatt-hours of electricity and 7,788 therms of natural gas annually — enough energy to power 59 Wisconsin homes for a year. The City will also benefit from a $55,089 savings on its energy bills each year.

Focus on Energy can help businesses and residents across the state identify and evaluate energy-saving opportunities, provide specific recommendations, develop energy management plans and arrange technical training opportunities about energy conservation.
