Request For Concept Papers

Focus on Energy’s Environmental and Economic Research and Development (EERD) Program has issued a Request for Concept Papers for research projects in the areas of energy efficiency and renewable energy program design and delivery in Wisconsin.  The two-page Concept Papers will be evaluated and used as the basis to invite full proposals for research projects to be completed in 2018. A total of $150,000 to $200,000 is available in this funding cycle, expected to be awarded across two to three research projects.

Concept Papers must be sent electronically to eerd@focusonenergy.com and be received no later than 5:00 p.m. CST on October 6, 2017. For additional information, please read the Request posted below.


2017 RECIP Update

Thank you to all those who submitted applications for the latest round of Renewable Energy Competitive Incentive Program. We received 111 submissions by the October 13, 2017 deadline. The Request for Proposals is now closed, all applicants will be notified of whether their proposal was accepted for funding by November 17th, 2017. Large Therm Project Accelerator Request for Proposals (RFP) for 2018 Projects - Large Energy Users Program

The Large Energy Users Program (LEUP) is accepting proposals for its LEUP Large Therm Project Accelerator Request for Proposals from any qualifying Large Energy Users in need of financial support for their large energy efficiency projects that save natural gas Therms and that can be completed in 2018.
 

RFP Release:

June 8, 2017

First Draft Proposal Due:          

August 16, 2017 (first draft submittal is recommended, but not required)

Final Proposal Due Date:

September 15, 2017

Incentive Award Basis:

Proposals are competitive – higher points awarded to larger energy savings projects and for lower proposed incentive rates ($/therm). RFP Application must be complete. Exceptional proposals with requests of less than $0.40/therm may be awarded before the final proposal due date.

Must work with a Focus on Energy Advisor. 

Project Completion:

Must be completed in 2018 with completion documentation submitted by COB Wednesday, December 5, 2018.

RFP Benefits Summary

  • Payback minimum/maximum – projects can qualify down to a one-year payback, with the incentive (currently 1.5 years).  Payback can be as high as 10 years (currently up to 8 years).
  • Project incentive cap – a single project cap increases to $400,000 (currently $200,000)
  • Customer’s annual cap – annual incentive cap increases to $500,000 for 2018 (currently $400,000).
  • Payment of up to 50 percent of the originally estimated project cost (currently 30%)
  • May request up to $1.00 per annual therm saved (currently $0.60/therm). Smaller requests are encouraged, to be competitive.
