Save instantly on the purchase of energy efficient lighting.
Focus on Energy partners with retailers around Wisconsin to offer instant discounts on ENERGY STAR® qualified products in stores near you.
Instant Discounts on CFLs
Lighting accounts for about 20 percent of the average home's electric bill. Compact fluorescent light bulbs (CFL) use up to 75 percent less energy and can last 10 times longer than incandescent bulbs.
- Up to $1.50 per ENERGY STAR qualified CFL
HOW DO I GET AN INSTANT DISCOUNT AT THE STORE?
Find a participating retailer near you.
Look for Focus on Energy signage at a participating retailer near qualifying CFLs.
Instantly receive your discount at the register, without completing or mailing any forms. In some cases, retailers may ask you to provide basic information, such as your name, the name of your utility, or the type of bulb purchased.
All CFLs contain about 5 milligrams of mercury per bulb, which is less than you find in an average watch battery. Though it’s an extremely small amount, these bulbs do need to be recycled properly. Also, if a CFL breaks, you should take special steps as advised by the EPA. Download this Fact Sheet to learn how to properly clean up and dispose of a broken CFL.
