Wisconsin Students Power Up for Fall Energy Challenge
Energy Conservation Competition
Renew Our Schools
This fall, eight Wisconsin schools are preparing the next group of energy leaders. From October 27 to December 5, students will join the Renew Our Schools Challenge, a five-week energy conservation competition focused on saving energy and making schools more efficient.
Participating schools include:
EAGLE School of Madison
Webster Middle School
Kromrey Middle School
Shorewood Hills Elementary School
Golda Meir School
Amherst Middle School
Lodi High School
Cornell School District
During the challenge, students will use energy meters and other tools to determine how their schools might be wasting energy. With help from Focus on Energy® and KEEP – Wisconsin’s K-12 Energy Education Program, students will survey lights, heating and cooling systems, and plug-in devices to find ways they can cut back on energy use by making smart changes.
“This challenge is more than reducing energy bills. It’s about building leadership,” said Heather Feigum, Program Manager with Focus on Energy. “It helps students see how they can make a real difference at their school and in their community.”
Hands-On Learning
Last spring, students across Wisconsin saved more than 89,000 kilowatt-hours, enough to power at nine homes for an entire year. This fall, these eight schools are ready to take the lead.
Wisconsin schools looking to boost their curriculum with hands-on sustainability are invited to join the Spring 2026 challenge. Learn more or sign up by visiting focusonenergy.com/renewourschools.
