MADISON, WI - Governor Tony Evers has declared October 1, 2025, as Energy Efficiency Day in Wisconsin. This announcement was made with support from the Public Service Commission of Wisconsin (PSC) and FOCUS ON ENERGY®. The day celebrates Wisconsin’s efforts to save energy, use more renewable resources, and work toward a clean energy future by the year 2050.
“Investing in energy efficiency helps people save money, creates jobs, and supports our clean energy economy,” said Governor Evers. “Wisconsin has long offered energy efficiency programs for both residents and businesses, and now, with the new IRA Home Energy Rebates focused on helping families, even more households can save energy and show how smart choices make a big difference.”
This special day is part of Energy Awareness Month, first launched in 1991 by President George H.W. Bush. Each October, people are encouraged to use energy more wisely and support efforts to protect the environment. Energy Efficiency Day gives Wisconsin a chance to share local success stories and show how energy-saving programs are making a real difference in communities across the state.Focus on Energy’s Impact
According to the latest Focus on Energy independent evaluation:
These results are visible across the state. In 2025, Focus on Energy honored 11 organizations with Energy Efficiency Excellence Awards for their commitments to saving energy, cutting costs, and forging a path to efficiency within their communities—from a historic Kaukauna paper mill leading the way in industrial upgrades, to schools reinvesting energy savings back into classrooms.
“Focus on Energy has helped Wisconsin businesses and residents save billions while showing how energy efficiency strengthens local economies,” said PSC Chairperson Summer Strand. “The program’s track record demonstrates why Wisconsin is a national model for energy efficiency and renewable resource investments.”
