Manitowoc County Healthcare Provider More Energy Efficient Thanks to Focus on Energy

Press Release

01/28/2018
TWO RIVERS – A Manitowoc healthcare provider is healthier (in more ways than one) thanks to energy efficiency projects made possible by Focus on Energy.
Focus on Energy provided a $9,099 incentive for upgrades to lighting, controls, windows, ventilation and water heating equipment at Holy Family Memorial’s lakefront campus in Two Rivers.
WPPI Energy, which supplies energy for the Two Rivers Water & Light utility, provided a $3,000 incentive for the energy efficiency projects.
As Wisconsin’s energy efficiency and renewable energy program, Focus on Energy partners with 108 Wisconsin electric and natural gas utilities. It works with eligible Wisconsin residents and businesses to install cost effective energy efficiency and renewable energy projects.
The efficiency improvements are estimated to save more than 100,000 kilowatt-hours (kWh) of electricity annually. The annual reduction in energy consumption is the environmental equivalent of removing 325 cars from the road, planting over 160 acres of trees, avoiding the burning of more than 475 tons of coal or preventing 800 tons of carbon dioxide from entering the atmosphere.
“This incentive award is evidence of our commitment to the environment,” said Jane Curran-Meuli, Holy Family Memorial’s chief operating officer and executive vice president. “Energy conservation programs have helped HFM reduce our environmental footprint and energy bills. The incentives we received from WPPI Energy and Focus on Energy will allow us to continue our sustainability efforts to reduce our energy use and carbon output. These kind of savings help HFM keep healthcare costs in this community lower.”
Founded by the Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity, Holy Family Memorial is the largest provider of comprehensive healthcare services in Manitowoc County.
Two Rivers Water & Light, WPPI Energy and Focus on Energy programs help residential, commercial, agricultural, institutional, and industrial customers save energy. Their energy conservation efforts help Wisconsinites manage energy usage, conserve resources and promote in-state economic development.
“We’re always trying to keep businesses competitive in our communities,” said Ken Kozak, Two Rivers Water & Light’s electric department director. “Though providing safe, reliable and affordable power is always our first priority, partnering with our customers to help them use their energy resources wisely is also of key importance.”
