Building Operator Certification (BOC) is a nationally recognized training and certification program that focuses on energy efficient building operations and preventative maintenance procedures. The Level I training provides building operators with knowledge and skills enhancement in the key activities associated with energy efficient building operations, including HVAC controls, common opportunities for operational improvements and building scoping for energy efficiency. The training includes lectures, discussion, small group exercises, tests and project assignments and will require about 74 hours of time. This series will be taught remotely through Zoom with live, instructor led lectures on Tuesday & Wednesday afternoons between 1:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. Central Time. The class meets 16 times. See below for detailed class schedule.

Tuition for this series is $1,695. The tuition covers all class materials, books, and credential recognition materials. Student handbooks will be shipped directly to registered students. Please provide accurate shipping address at registration checkout. Tuition must be paid at least one week before the first day of class to ensure materials will be sent before the first class.

The Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy (EGLE) is offering a $400 registration discount for building operators who work for a public or nonprofit organization in Michigan. Limited time only. Email us at boc@mwalliance.org if you think you may qualify.

Important: Graduates of this training series will earn a training certificate of completion (TCOC). In order to earn the Certified Building Operator credential, graduates will need to register for a third-party exam. Registration for this exam will be available throughout the duration of the training series and the exam will be scheduled individually once the training series is completed.

Cancellation Policy and Refund Information No refunds will be provided for registrations canceled less than three business days before the start of the first course in a training series. However, employers may substitute a different employee if the original registrant is unable to participate in the training series.

If a training participant is unable to attend a course in a training series for which he or she is registered, he or she may make up that course at no additional cost or penalty by attending it when it is offered during a different training series.
