  • The Multifamily Energy Savings Program specializes in energy efficiency opportunities for multifamily properties with four or more dwelling units. The program provides a range of services that result in lower operating costs and better bottom lines for building owners and managers and lower costs of living and increased comfort for their tenants.

 

HOW DO I GET MY PROPERTY INTO THE MULTIFAMILY ENERGY SAVINGS PROGRAM?

    Review the Multifamily Summary of Services and Incentives for existing buildings and new construction.

    Complete the Eligibility Tool to see if your property qualifies for the Multifamily Energy Savings Program and submit to multifamilyprograms@franklinenergy.com.

  3. 3

    Focus on Energy will contact you to discuss options available for your property.

  4. 4

    Your Focus on Energy Advisor will help you pursue any combination of the services available through this program.

The Program Provides:

  • Free Building Energy Assessments that examine overall building performance, including heating and cooling systems, domestic water heating, building envelope, lighting in common areas, individual living units and more.
  • Free Direct Installation of water-saving showerheads and faucet aerators, pipe insulation, and compact fluorescent light bulbs (CFLs). That’s hundreds of dollars in energy-saving products, absolutely free.
  • Optional Calculations Of Projected Energy Savings that show you potential ROI of efficiency projects. A small fee is charged for this optional report, and is reimbursed to you once your projects are complete.
  • Prescriptive Incentives for specific measures that are one-for-one replacements or substitutions for specific equipment.
  • Incentives For Custom Projects that are specific to your building’s needs and your savings goals.

 

Program Eligibility and Requirements

  • Must be an owner or manager of an apartment or condo building with four or more units.
  • The building(s) must be served by a participating Wisconsin electric or natural gas utility.
  • Complete the Multifamily Energy Savings Program Eligibility Tool (.xls) and for an assessment by an Energy Advisor. In doing this, please reference the Multifamily Energy Savings Eligibility Tool Guide.
  • Receive pre-approval on any custom projects, or complete a prescriptive application. See applications below for more details.

Common Area Lighting Package

The multifamily Common Area Lighting Package (CALP) is specifically geared toward lighting fixtures operating more than 12 hours per day in buildings with four or more units. For a low $179 co-pay, your building may receive any combination of the following, up to $2,500 in product:

2 Lamp, 4' Reduced Wattage Lamp (28W) with Low Ballast Factor
Interior CLF Fixtures
Exterior CLF Fixture
Occupancy Sensor
LED Exit Sign

Custom Projects

EQUIPMENT AND FINANCIAL INCENTIVES:

Custom Incentives are progressive and are based on levels of therms, kWh and peak kW saved.
Tier 1: $0.80/therm, $0.06/kWh and $100/peak kW
Tier 2: $1.25/therm, $0.08/kWh and $150/peak kW
Tier 3: $1.50/therm, $0.10/kWh and $200/peak kW

$200,000 Maximum Per Project
$400,000 Maximum Per Customer Per Year

  • Custom Incentives are available for projects that meet equipment and efficiency requirements.
  • You MUST receive pre-approval from Focus on Energy prior to beginning any custom projects, including ordering equipment.
  • Payment information, including Federal Tax ID is required. Focus on Energy cannot award financial incentives without this information.
  • May require an IRS Form 1099 for incentives totaling over $600 in a calendar year, depending on your tax classification.
  • Custom incentives cannot exceed 50% of a project’s total cost.
  • Incentive approval will be contingent upon submission and approval of the necessary documentation, such as energy-savings calculations, contractor quotes, equipment specifications and an indication that funds are needed to get the project implemented.
