Smart Choices Sustain a Fox River Favorite

Investing in Comfort for the Community

A Green Bay favorite is making smart energy choices. Locals know they’ll always receive a warm welcome at the Fox Harbor Pub & Grill. This community-focused small business, just steps from the Fox River recreational trail, is located in a cherished neighborhood icon – the historic Freimann Hotel building. Now, with help from Focus on Energy and Wisconsin Public Service, they’re improving comfort and cutting costs by upgrading key energy systems.

Fox Harbor Historic Sign

Owner-operator, Jesse Wotruba, has shaped the Fox Harbor Pub & Grill to reflect his commitment to community by choosing to carry local products and creating a space where people can come together.

“This is a place to gather with friends and family, cheer on your favorite sports team, and listen to local bands – all in the heart of Green Bay,” says Jesse Wotruba, owner of Fox Harbor Pub & Grill.

All-Season Comfort and Efficient Operations

Making customers comfortable is a hallmark of Wotruba’s business.  When Focus on Energy contacted him to schedule a free energy assessment, Wotruba was excited to explore potential improvements. Collaborating with the local utility, Wisconsin Public Service and Focus on Energy identified savings opportunities. The assessment showed replacing two furnaces and three air conditioning units with high efficiency alternatives would provide customers with ideal comfort year-round.

Local Green Bay Trade Ally Apex Heating & Cooling worked closely with Fox Harbor to ensure a smooth and quality installation.

Fox Harbor also worked with Thorne Plumbing out of nearby DePere to switch from an electric storage water heater to a new heat pump water heater, which can reduce electricity usage by up to 70%.

Serving up Savings

The expertise of Focus and these two Trade Ally contractors will generate an estimated 2.97 kW demand savings, 4,535 annual kWh savings, and 530 annual therm savings. For Fox Harbor, this translates to over $1,155 off its annual energy bill!

“We’re proud to be a focal point in this vibrant community,” Wotruba says. “These savings will support our business for years to come, and the upgrades reinforce our commitment to creating an outstanding customer experience.”
