Home Energy Assessment: Know Your Home Inside and Out

We encourage any homeowner to get a home energy assessment before starting in on energy-saving improvements. You’ll have a much stronger understanding of your home’s current issues and you’ll even gain access to higher incentives for recommended improvements. Let’s take a look at some key benefits of a home energy assessment.

The right solutions

The more you know about your home, the easier it is to improve comfort, health and energy efficiency. During your assessment, you’ll meet with a Building Performance Institute (BPI) certified Trade Ally contractor who’s specially trained to help you identify solutions that bring out the best in your home.

Extra incentives

You may already know FOCUS ON ENERGY® offers cash incentives for home energy improvements. But did you know we also have higher incentives for customers who complete a home energy assessment? Get your assessment and save more on sealing air leaks within your home.

Thorough testing

It’s all about the details. Your home energy assessment includes the following services:

  • Visual inspection of your living space, attic, basement and crawlspace

  • Blower door test to measure air tightness

  • Combustion safety and ventilation test to ensure mechanicals, such as your furnace and water heater, are operating correctly and there is sufficient air circulation

  • Infrared camera scan (optional) to identify air leaks and lack of insulation in walls

A clear blueprint

After your assessment, you’ll receive a customized energy report with recommendations that can help you save up to 20% on utility bills, according to ENERGY STAR®. Your contractor can help you review available incentives and decide which improvements are the best investments for your home.
