In 1991, President George H.W. Bush declared October as "Energy Awareness Month," initiating a campaign that has evolved into much more than "awareness." At the time, the Federal Government's call to action was a formidable challenge; President Bush urged the nation to unite in managing energy consumption and preserving our energy resources. This initiative has proven successful, as evidenced by the significant energy transformations over the past 30 years.
This movement also spurred the creation of Wisconsin's Focus on Energy program in 2001.Under the supervision of the Wisconsin Public Service Commission and in collaboration with 107 Wisconsin utilities, Focus on Energy has dedicated over two decades to assisting Wisconsin's residents, businesses, manufacturers, farmers, schools, and local governments in reducing their energy use and waste, thereby stimulating job creation, boosting the economy, and delivering substantial benefits to the entire state.
We are highlighting the success stories of the businesses and Trade Ally/Contractors who are this year's recipients of the Energy Efficiency Excellence Award, and we will offer ideas on how YOU can engage with Focus on Energy to alter your energy consumption and save money.
During Energy Awareness Month, take the opportunity to find out how YOU can make a difference.
