About the Pilot

Background

Focus Force Milwaukee is designed to recruit, educate, and train individuals from disadvantaged communities for careers in the energy efficient industry and will leverage aspects of the Transform Milwaukee Jobs Program managed by Silver Spring Neighborhood Center and a National Science Foundation Grant secured by Milwaukee Area Technical College. The pilot introduces individual from Milwaukee to the energy sector and clean energy jobs. It aims to address the need for advanced technical training and improved career opportunities in disadvantaged communities in addition to address the need for skilled employees of Wisconsin-based employers and Trade Allies.

Project Timeline: October 2023 - December 2026
Sector: Training

Pilot Objectives:

  • Address gaps in connecting individuals facing barriers to employment with employers in the energy sectors in need of skilled workers.
    • Individuals securing job placement: 25.
    • Employers participating in job placement: 10.
  • Meet the end us energy customer and Trade Ally needs for skilled technicians supporting energy management activities.
  • Increase the recruitment and retention of students from underserved communities.
  • Reduce the energy use of Wisconsin customers and raise awareness of energy and environmental issues.
  • Develop a roadmap document that details a replicable model for other organizations and communities.
