Job Overview

The Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Resource Manager will serve as the project team’s subject matter expert and designer of the Program’s diversity and inclusion plans. This responsibility will include processes, tracking, continuous improvement for the services delivered on behalf of our clients in the markets we serve. The position oversees the identification, development, implementation, and evaluation of such initiatives. In executing these responsibilities, the DEI Resource Manager will collaborate internally with human resources, operations, senior leadership, and finance and externally with clients, partners, industry groups, and community stakeholders.

This position requires numerous skillsets, including project management, qualitative and quantitative analysis, strategic planning, cross-functional communications, training, and stakeholder management. It also requires skill at influencing change. The ideal candidate is a person who proactively solves ambiguous problems, can synthesize multiple sources of qualitative and quantitative information into clear insights, directives, and a cohesive vision, and can work effectively with stakeholders from community advocate groups to small business owners and members of the executive suite.

Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities:

  • Has overall responsibility for diversity and inclusion efforts of external, client facing programs with a goal of establishing APTIM as an industry leader in DEI programming.
  • Develops DEI strategies and drives their execution across multiple delivery teams through project plans, communications, and leadership.
  • Collaborates with local APTIM program teams, clients, communities, and stakeholders to build and implement customized DEI development plans for each program.
  • Develop necessary processes, documentation, and communications necessary for rollout and ongoing support.
  • Works with business development team on proposals to establish DEI plans for prospective new work.
  • Defines, tracks and acts upon meaningful KPI’s related to DEI for external implementation as it relates our energy programs. 
  • Continuously assesses efforts on DEI programs, establishes best practices, identifies, and removes barriers to further advancement.
  • Develops and/or acquires training and development to aid DEI and retention initiatives.
  • Maintains and shares up to date knowledge of diversity-related issues, policies, and best practices.
  • Ensure compliance with all APTIM quality and safety policies as well as all OSHA regulations.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university.
  • 5+ years’ professional experience.
  • 2+ years’ experience related to DEI leadership.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively scope projects, including problem definition and success criteria.
  • Ability to use advanced research methods as well as qualitative and quantitative analytical skills to create, implement and maintain strategic plans.
  • Ability to partner with multiple teams in a fast-paced environment.
  • Track record of designing and launching new initiatives.
  • Experience building a DEI strategy roadmap and leading its successful implementation.
  • Experience in facilitating change processes.
  • Experience developing and negotiating contracts. 
  • Demonstrated understanding of societal systems of bias and strategies to overcome them.
  • Demonstrated effectiveness building relationships and partnering with stakeholders including but not limited to senior executives, leaders, employees, external vendors, and consultants
  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and drive them to completion using project/program management tools.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office software.

Desired/Preferred Qualifications:

  • Diversity Certifications or trainings.
  • Experience in energy efficiency or utility industry a plus.
