Focus on Energy Now Offering 25% Discount on Storm Windows

Press Release

10/15/2018

Madison – Focus on Energy is offering something new for Wisconsin residents getting their homes for winter: monetary incentives for installing Low-E storm windows.

Focus on Energy, Wisconsin’s statewide energy efficiency and renewable energy program, has worked with Larson Manufacturing to make instant incentives available at the time of purchase at participating retailers, including Home Depot, Lowe’s and Menard’s locations in the state (Home Depot locations in Hudson and Onalaska excluded).

Low-E storm windows can be a great, cost-effective option for Wisconsin homeowners looking to keep their homes comfortable this winter while saving some money on their heating bills. They offer similar energy savings to ENERGY STAR® certified replacement windows at nearly half the cost.

These storm windows use high-performance weatherstripping to create a tight seal and a layer of insulating airspace over existing windows, which reduces the amount of outside noise coming in, keeps homes warmer during the long Wisconsin winter, and saves energy on heating bills. The low-emissivity coating on the storm windows allows the same amount of light through the glass while minimizing infrared energy, meaning the windows also help keep heat out in the summertime.

Low-E storm windows can go on the inside or outside of windows and they can be installed by the homeowner. In addition, they can open and close like a normal window, meaning they can be left on year-round.

Facts about Focus on Energy’s Low-E storm window offer:

  • Can reduce overall air leakage through windows by 10% and reflect heat 35% better than clear-glass storm windows.
  • Can help you save between 12-33% annually on heating and cooling bills, according to U.S. Dept. of Energy
  • Models can be installed on inside or outside of window frame
  • Can be installed with just a drill, 3/32” drill bit, caulk gun, utility knife, tape measure and pliers

Customers of the 107 Wisconsin utilities who fund and participate in the Focus on Energy program can receive 25 percent off purchases of up to 15 low-E storm windows between now and the end of the year. Learn more at www.focusonenergy.com/low-estorms or call 1-800-762-7077 with questions. You can also email questions to retailincentives@focusonenergy.com.

A recent evaluation report found every $1 invested in Focus on Energy programs creates $5.93 in benefits for Wisconsin, including economic benefits, reduced energy costs, and reduced pollution.
