For "Custom Incentives" or "Feasibility Study Grants", you must work with a Focus on Energy Advisor to obtain approval for custom incentives, or to apply for a Feasibility Study Grant. If you do not currently have an advisor, please call 800.762.7077 and press "2".

Feasibility Study Grants: Feasibility Study Grants help eligible customers defray the cost of studying the impacts of implementing a proposed energy efficiency project or process improvement. They are awarded based on level of need, progressiveness of technology and application, and the expected (annual) energy conservation potential of the project.

Custom Incentives: The custom incentive program is a two-tier structure. We reserve the higher dollar amounts for Tier Two technologies and projects. By definition, Tier Two technologies and projects have tougher customer economics (i.e. longer simple payback periods) or where the technology or project has more perceived risk to a customer (i.e. newer technology to the market or Wisconsin).

The attached document provides a breakdown of the custom tier technologies and their respective kW, kWh and therm calculations by business sector program: Agriculture and Rural Business, Commercial, Industrial, and Schools and Government. The custom financial incentives are calculated based on estimated first year energy savings associated with a technology or project. To receive the higher financial incentive levels qualifying equipment must be purchased on or after June 1, 2007 and supporting documentation such as an invoice must be submitted to Energy Advisor.

     Business Sector Custom Financial Incentives

Custom financial incentive requirements:
  • Custom incentives will not be provided for projects falling under a 1.5 year payback
  • Custom incentives are provided to cover no more than 30 percent of a project's cost
  • The maximum incentive for a custom project is $250,000
  • The maximum incentive an individual customer may receive per year is $500,000
  • You must work with a Focus on Energy Advisor prior to project initiation to obtain custom incentives
